The Target Center cost $104 million to construct and was financed through tax bonds and private debt. Target is paying $1.25 million a year over 15 years for the naming rights on the building. The nearest airport from the Target Center is Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport a short drive away. The Timberwolves are one of the younger franchises in the league and have only retired one person’s number into their hall of fame. Malik Sealy wore the #2 jersey during his time with the team before he was tragically killed in the off-season a few years ago. The team immediately retired his number and star player Kevin Garnett still has the #2 written on his wristbands and other parts of his uniform since Sealy was his best friend on the team. The Target Center isn’t just a basketball stadium either. The Target Center yearly plays host to big name entertainers and comedians, huge concerts, and the circus. The Target Center only took 27 months to build and is owned by the city of Minneapolis.
