The National Finals Rodeo (NFR) will be held at the Thomas and Mack Center in Las Vegas, Nevada. Men and Women from all over the United States and Canada, as well as other represented countries, will try their hand at many events, including bareback riding, steer roping, team roping (headers and heelers), saddle bronc riding, tie-down roping, barrel racing, bull riding, and an all-around competition among others.
The 2003 World Champion of barrel racing was Janae Ward, the 2003 World Champion of steer wrestling was Teddy Johnson, and Terry Don West was the 2003 World Champion in the bull riding competition.
The big winner in the 2003 NFR, also held in Las Vegas, was Trevor Brazile, who followed up his 2002 all-around World Championship with another in 2003. Brazile won the 2002 trophy in the last event on the last run, and the next day, he prepared himself for a follow-up in 2003 by focusing on tie-down roping, team roping, and steer roping. In the 2003 competition, he had clinched a victory in round nine, and he turned the 10 th and final round into his own personal victory celebration. Brazile will look to win an unprecedented third straight all-around championship in Las Vegas later in 2004.
